We started out with 7 baby chicks…I ordered 6, but got 7. One died after night 2. Not sure why, and will never know. Sometimes it just happens. I also don’t know if it was our Black Astralop or our Olive Egger. See, I ordered 6 different types of chicks…A silver laced wyandotte, A lavender orpington, a silverudd or isbar, a olive egger, a golden comet, and a black astralop. I believe we got two silverudds/isbar chicks. Not 100% sure though…All I know is that Wyandotte chicks are super fast. She has pasty butt and I’ve had to catch her and they are speedy!
So nonetheless, despite my husband’s objections, the girls and I have named the chicks. So here is the introduction to the six thriving little babes:
Miss Ebony…This one was named by my little Ellie. She is thought to be the Olive Egger, but Ellie insists that we kept her name as Ebony and that Olivia was the one who didn’t make it…

Then there is Miss Honey…Miss Emmalyn named her with a little guidance from me…she was going to use one of the names from a bird that passed away in the heat this summer and that was a no-no. She is a Golden Comet and will give my Husband the eggs he requires from my birds! So far she has become the most friendly and has even climbed on my arm some! She likes to eat out of my hand too and it’s been less than a week!

#3 and #4 are Lucy and Lulu-The Silverudds/Isbars. I honestly am surprised Lulu is still here, but she is thriving and almost bigger than the rest! They are beautiful too and getting more and more curious as well!

Then there is Stormy…she’s my Lavender Orpington and so far my favorite, but she has not yet warmed up to me! I’m working on it!

And last–the speedy one–Lacey the silver wyandotte–who will be gorgeous!

I’ll keep you updated as to how they change as they grow! It’s quite fascinating!
Much Love!
