So most people think it is devastating to work on New Year’s Eve. I think it’s super quiet and gives me time to finish up those lingering projects as well as it gives me time to reflect on the past year.
Here’s the top 5 things that I’m most thankful for as we exit the year of 2024:
- Both Emmalyn and Ellianna gave their hearts to Jesus!
- We got to enjoy a family vacation to Outer Banks NC
- I have a job–not my dream job, but a job that pays bills and puts food on the table and makes the girls and my hubby’s and I dreams come together
- The chickens we are raising are truly a blessing to my heart and make me smile…although right now they are a muddy mess and smell a little!
- Blossom is still here; she may be in her 9th life, but she’s still here!
I think the thing I am most looking forward to in 2025 is the garden that we are planning on establishing…and then the fun part of canning food that comes from it! My husband has planned out the garden and we’ll start planting seeds indoors in March…and I got some canning supplies for Christmas from my dad and Terri, so I am starting that collection and we’re doing research on recipes and when to do different things. I’m starting with pickling eggs this week. It’s been hard getting clean eggs simply because of all the mud they track in with their cute chicken feet, but I have almost a full jar so I can pickle that! Then next winter when they stop laying we should have plenty of eggs still!
Pickling eggs, canning veggies, I’m thinking I might even venture into sourdough bread…not sure. We’ll see what 2025 has in store!
