The starter did everything it was supposed to do. It rose like it was supposed to…it smelled like it was supposed to…it bubbled like it was supposed to…but then we went to make the dough. The dough did NOT rise like it was supposed to. It looks like a solid white piece of brick…
I don’t know if it’s the gluten free flour…or if the starter wasn’t quite ready. But we’ll be trying again to see if we can get something better. My husband is still going to be cutting into it and trying it…but the looks of it are just hideous! We think we will switch to regular flour and see what that does. I’ll keep you all posted!
In other news, we are back to getting green eggs again! Baby and Brownie our “Americana” chickens that were wounded somehow are back to egg laying! We believe that they started molting and simply injured themselves and blood causes other chickens to peck on one another. It got pretty ugly to say the least. Both are now even more friendly too because of us having to take care of them when they were wounded. Baby is still not a fan of my husband but both let me pick them up without much problem. One of them is laying somewhat a blueish green egg too…makes my heart so happy. Egg production means they aren’t stressed anymore and aren’t overwhelmed! Happy chickens-happy chicken mama!
